When we looked into international transfers, there are loads to choose from. Here’s the two we used
Transferwise vs Currencies Direct
Currencies Direct – www.currenciesdirect.co.uk
Signed up as they were offering an Amazon gift card worth £75. Had to speak to someone upon signing up, why do you need to speak to me? just give me the check out code!
Anyway, here are the screen shot’s of the complete transaction for the sum of £10,000 GBP on the 16th July 2015
This image is from the home page however, once you click get started the quote changes. This is due to the constant movement of the real price of GBP/NZD and is only an estimate
a difference of £279.90 from the previous page and Currencies Direct rate is 2.3620
The current rate according to XE.COM was 2.39137.
Switching over to Transferwise.com I found a better rate
Continuing to the second page the rate stayed the same
It wasn’t till the final payment page the amount changes to incur the commission Transferwise takes. Still the difference is only £15.47
In situations like these where sums more than £500 are involved, I’m looking for two qualities when choosing a company.
I found good reviews on both services Trust Pilot : https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.currenciesdirect.com
Ease of Use
If I have to click too many things or go to another page, then I start to lose interest. I begin to start doubting whether I’m doing the right thing. It’s a weird feeling that I suffer from, it something takes too long to complete I get buyers remorse. Tranferwise for me was the better deal not only with the rate I got but also their ‘one page’ style site
Nick's Dutch wife is mostly concerned about the quality of NZ chocolate and cheese.Hope we don't disappoint.
