UK to NZ Shipping Review Part 2: Crown Relocation has arrived

If you’ve missed my first UK to NZ, Crown Relocation Shipping Review, have a look at the post here:

First some quick facts

  1. It’s been exactly 109 days since we have seen your goods
  2. Shipping company arrived 30th of October 2015 to pack our house in London
  3. The container didn’t leave the UK till December 1st 2015
  4. To be fair it only took 11 weeks to arrive, 1 week ahead of schedule

It is a good thing that the shipment didn’t come earlier, like in January for instance. That would have fucked up everything as we didn’t have our flat till February 6th, so we would of had to pay for storage.

The Dream Is Over

When we moved into our 2 bedroom flat this is what our living room looked like.

1 x Double Air Bed from The Warehouse

1 x Camping Chair also from The Warehouse

1 x Fan, borrowed from cousin

In our bedrooms were mattresses on the floor

Slumming it for 10 days was fun in the beginning but by the end, we were over it. Especially the wife who had to breast feed on a camping chair!

Aside from missing all our worldly possessions we managed to acquire

New Samsung Washing Machine $800 Noel Leeming Special

2nd hand Dryer from Trademe Free

Cheap cutlery and plastic plates The Warehouse

Toaster and Kettle $150 Noel Leeming Special

NutriBullet Briscoes

Fridge 400L Harvey Norman

So it wasn’t completely empty, just need our shit to arrive to make it homely

After ticking off 100 boxes we had one missing!

The Dyson Vacuum cleaner was not accounted for!

After the boys left, I got a phone call to say they found it and returned it promptly

Conclusion:

The only damage we are claiming on is an IKEA table which is fixable but as we paid all this money for insurance, it makes sense to claim something

The 50″ TV arrived unscathed and after unwrapping the Dyson, that too was unscratched

Only thing we can complain about is the lack of communication from the NZ side. Throughout the entire process I must say that UK side were always quick to respond to emails, typically 24 hours. However, when our goods arrived in NZ (15th of Jan according to the online tracker) there was radio silence with Crown NZ. We had to chase UK to get in contact with NZ to let us know when our goods were to arrive

In the end it all turned out good, we would definitely recommend Crown Relocation for anyone returning/moving to New Zealand from the UK. Great service
